This webinar is based on a workshop that was presented at the 2016 Aging in America Conference.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office for Older Americans, FDIC and D.C. Office on Aging will train trainers on the Money Smart for Older Adults curriculum. This session provides an overview of the curriculum with a focus on common frauds, scams and exploitation that target older adults. Participants will receive an instructor guide, a participant guide and other resources, and will learn best practices for providing effective presentations to older adults and family caregivers.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:

  • Understand the updated Money Smart for Older Adults curriculum and complementary resources and information for older adults, family caregivers and concerned community members;
  • Identify different types of elder financial exploitation that target older adults;
  • List best practices for planning a workshop or seminar for older adults in collaboration with diverse stakeholders; and,
  • Describe skills for making effective presentations to older adults.
