Compassion Fatigue, also called “vicarious traumatization,” is the emotional residue or strain of exposure to working with those suffering from the consequences of traumatic events. Symptoms of stress, distress and burnout in caregivers, family members and providers can occur without those experiencing such symptoms realizing it. Socialized wild horses have been found to help recovery from such emotional stress and facilitate resiliency by empowering people and management teams to live in the present and by helping to increase coping and communication skills.
